On May 27th students from 1st of Bachillerato joined a Video conference with friends of our English language assistant called Lia. She was working with American teachers to try to establish an online exchange for next year.
Hi! My name is Cornelia, Lia’s mum. I’m living in the mountain right now in North Carolina. It’s beautiful there. Lia wants to go climbing, hiking, kajaking and camping.
I’m 54 and I have 3 sisters who grew up very close. We are spread out and we don’t live in the same town. We have to travel if we want to see each other. I am a physical therapist and I work with babies, from the time they are born until they are 3 years old. I teach them they are having a hard time learning how to move, to sit and walk.
If they have been born and they have an illness or an injury when they are born I help them how to move. So I go into their home where they are and work with them. I like desserts and I like t oread. I like to write letters but I’ m not writing much any more. I have a lot of stories on Lia and I don’t know if you know her very well.

I like running, hiking in the mountains, mountain biking. I love climbing, reuniting all together, being in the sun. I enjoy reading and writing about things that are important to me.
My favourite food is anything healthy that makes me feel good after I eat it. I ate sushi last night that’s clean. About my favourite movie I don’t like It’s about time. I like action movies and westerns.
They are quick and easy to catch. What else Lia? I am 57 and I’ll be 58 this year. I have a large family. In total there’re 10 of us. We love to get together. We are large and loud.
We love to eat and talk and eat together and celebrate it and hold parties. When we were younger our family used to dance and just be together.
My name is Jenny and I am the longest and closest friend. I used to live in Nashville, Tennessesse where Lia’s family was and that’s where my family was. I went to college in Nashville. After that I got married to my cousin and we moved to North Carolina. Last month we moved to Nashville and I started a new job. I will be working with an organization of people with disabilities to get better access and emotional support. This is what I do.
In North Carolina we have lakes, mountains so I love to go hiking. I love to be outside. There’re a lot of parks. I love to take picnics here with my friends and my family. There’s good music and there’re two theaters where a lot of friends come. It’s like a big city because I can do all the country stuff and I can do my favourite city stuff as well.
This year it is going to be harder so I hope it will well. I also have a sister who is older than me. She is getting married this summer so our family is coming bigger and bigger. Our parents are still in Nashville so we are pretty close to that so we can visit them a lot which is really nice. Some things that I like to do besides I think is music. I love to cook and bake so it’s been really fun. I’ve just had a big house where there’s a big kitchen so we will have a great time. If I am not cooking or baking I am usually reading. This is what I like to do.
I sit outside and I read a lot. I love early mornings especially in the spring and the fall. I do not like rainy mornings and it happens to be raining this morning so I’m sorry if I look a little tired. My favourite food is sea food, any type with the fish. Especially after go and catch the fish and then eat it. So me and my dad do it together. We love ocean sea food like shrimp.
My favourite movie is, you guys probably don’t know what the movie is, Air Force 1. It is a classic. It is because my dad also loves to watch it and we watched it together. That’s all about me.
